Exam Age Eligibility Checker
Check if you meet the age limit for a government job or exam on its cut-off date.
How to use the age eligibility checker
Enter your date of birth exactly as it appears on your Class 10 certificate, then enter the cut-off date from the notification, usually written as “age as on” a date. Fill in the minimum and maximum age for the post, and any relaxation in years that applies to your category. Press Check eligibility to see your exact age on the cut-off date, whether you meet the limit and the range of birth dates that qualify.
Why the cut-off date matters
Recruitment bodies measure age on one fixed date, not on the day you apply or sit the exam. Many candidates check their age as of today and either miss an opportunity or apply when they are not eligible. This tool calculates your age on the exact cut-off date. Our guide on calculating age as on a date explains the common mistakes.
How the birth-date range is worked out
A maximum age of 27 means you must not have completed 28 years on the cut-off date. The earliest allowed birth date is therefore one day after the date exactly 28 years before the cut-off. A minimum age of 18 means you must have completed 18 years, so the latest allowed birth date is exactly 18 years before the cut-off. Relaxation years are added to the maximum age before the range is calculated.
About age relaxation
Relaxation depends on the recruiting organisation, the post and your category, such as reserved categories, persons with benchmark disabilities, ex-servicemen or departmental candidates. Different notifications allow different amounts, and some relaxations can be combined while others cannot. Read the notification for your exam and enter the number of years it allows you.
When notifications give dates instead of ages
Many notifications state the limit directly, for example “born not earlier than 02.08.1998 and not later than 01.08.2007”. When that wording is given, it is the final rule; compare your date of birth with those dates. The range shown by this tool should match it, which is a useful double-check.
This checker is a planning aid. The official notification and the recruiting body’s decision are final.
Frequently asked questions
Is my age calculated in completed years?
Yes. Age limits in recruitment notices refer to completed years on the cut-off date, which is how this tool calculates it.
How much age relaxation do I get?
It depends on the exam, the post and your category. Check the official notification and enter the years it allows.
Is my date of birth stored?
No. Everything is calculated in your browser and nothing is saved.
